Purpose

  1. To describe and detail the steps to install an LGX Ace Cold Block and LGX Pro Extruder to a Magnum+ Hotend.*See Magnum+ guide for full hotend assembly instructions

Procedure

  1. Apply a small amount of MX-4 to an applicator swab. Apply a generous portion of MX-4 to the top of the heat break. Ensure no MX-4 gets into the inside of the heat break.

  2. Insert four standoff tubes into the hot block and gently place the LGX ACE Magnum+ Cold Block on the hot block, as shown below. The RTD cable must be to the inside of the standoff tubes such that the cable runs out the back of the hotend instead of the side.

Be careful that the top of the heat break tube is not smashed by the cold block when installing.

  3. Place one Serrated Safety Washer onto the M1.6 x 0.35 Screw. Pay close attention to the orientation of the Serrated Safety Washer on the M1.6 x 0.35 Screw. The convex side of the Serrated Safety Washer needs to face the M1.6 x 0. 35 Screw head. Repeat this for the second screw and washer.

  4. Insert both screws/washers into the bottom of the Magnum+ Hot Block as shown and torque to 0.15 Nm.
  5. Using a 2.0 mm hex key from the LGX Pro Extruder box, remove the two screws attaching the interface plug to the LGX Pro Extruder.

  6. Attach the assembled Magnum+ hotend to the LGX Pro Extruder using the two interface plug screws. Torque these screws to 0.3 nm.
  7. You now have an assembled LGX Ace Pro Magnum+ that is ready for a nozzle and whatever other add-ons such as a fan or convection shield.

  8. *Optional* If installing a fan later, attach the fan to the printhead using two button head M3 x 25 mm length screw as shown. Torque both screws to 0.3 Nm.
The label on the fan must face the extruder. The wire leads will be at the upper right corner of the hotend.
  9. See Magnum+ assembly guide for installing a nozzle and convection shield.
