How to Properly Use Thin Film Thermal Grease
Applying Thin Film Thermal Grease
For Heater Cartridges and Hot Blocks
- Prepare the surfaces: Ensure both the ceramic heater and the hot block’s heater surface are clean and free of debris or residue.
- Apply the grease: Use the included applicator to spread a thin, even layer of Thin Film Thermal Grease on the hot block surface, and ceramic heater.
- Insert the heater cartridge: Carefully lay the coated heater onto the hot block.
- Remove excess grease: Wipe away any grease that squeezes out of the sides of the hot block to prevent contamination of surrounding components.
For Temperature Sensors
- Clean the sensor and block: Ensure the temperature sensor and its corresponding hole in the hot block are clean.
- Apply a thin layer: Use the applicator to coat the temperature sensor and the sensor hole with a thin, even layer of thermal grease.
- Insert the sensor: Place the coated temperature sensor into the block, then wipe away any excess grease.
- Secure the sensor: Ensure the sensor is seated properly for accurate readings.
For Thermal Wells or Semiconductor Devices
- Clean contact surfaces: Verify the surfaces of thermal wells, power transistors, or diodes are clean.
- Apply grease sparingly: Spread a minimal amount of grease to create a thin, even bond line.
- Assemble the components: Attach the components as needed, ensuring no excess grease spreads beyond the contact area.
